Eventually it installed. Installation wasn't easy as the two upper bolt holes were way off. I also used weather stripping along the sides connecting to the tabs. I also tried installing it upside down, but had the same problem. Since it is made of sheet metal I used a rattail file to elongate the holes. Hooked it to a shop vacuum and it works great. No loose dust at all.
Also, the product description doesn't say that this adapter is made of steel, not plastic, which to me is a plus. Go figure.
I elected to install mine so that the chute didn't extend below the tabletop. There are two ways to install this, as other reviewers have noted.
The way the product is listed is confusing, because the jointer I have is the JT160, not the 37-070. The screw holes were a little off position, but it went together all right.
I don't know why the product has the little wings extending about 1.2 inch to each side, unless the designer wanted me to bend them down around the sides (another reviewer did that). The finish on this adapter is good.
Considering the amount of shavings my jointer puts out, this item, and some kind of dust collector, are mandatory.
Easy to install, works great with my dust collection system. It only extends below the jointer if you install it upside down.
The dust adapter works as described. They fail to mention, however, that it extends below tabletop level somewhat, so the jointer must be placed at the edge of the bench so the adapter can hang over. This also makes it hard to store the jointer on a shelf, or the floor. What were they thinking.
It took about three minutes to pull off two torx screws, two phillips screws, hold the adapter in place, and put the four screws back in. I then folded the wings on the sides with a rubber mallet and this seems to have sealed it well. My only gripe is that it should have something akin to weather stripping to seal it though it's adequate as delivered.
